Because Andrew Yang blew the fuck up after his podcast, which got people talking about UBI, which gave some members of the congress the idea to use it for the stimulus that has temporarily helped people pay their bills and rent during an ongoing pandemic.

Because Tulsi Gabbard and Bernie Sanders went on there and convinced moderate conservatives that they were on the wrong side, increasing the size of the progressive base and taking votes away from Trump.

I consider that a huge positive influence on politics.

Yeah. Matt and Trey admit they take political stances in the show for sake of jokes. It's pretty much impossible to have a world view based on South Park outside of taking the piss out of authority figures. Just as Rogan constantly reminds people that he isn't well informed on most topics and that he is only shooting the fly while satisfying his curiousity by inviting a multitude of guests from all walks of life.
