"Trump Again Takes Credit For Coronavirus Successes While Shifting Blame For His Failures..." is a really unprofessional headline for a national news source. That should be a tabloid headline.

Granted, without knowing the details, there's a 97.99% chance it's true. (Okay, 197.99% chance.) But phrasing people. You want to pretend to be objective in your reporting. You phrase things in such a way that your report sounds unbiased, but the evidence still leans in your favor. If your headline read, "Senator Smith Makes Controversial Remarks About Predominantly African-American Community," that would be a professional headline. If your headline read, "Senator Smith is a Racist Shithead," that would be unprofessional even if it's true that he's a racist shithead.

Trump is the biggest cartoon character to ever take office -- a 1960s Batman villain in real life -- and the professional news sources are trying to match him for sheer buffoonery and pettiness.

Why hold non-Trump supporters to a higher standard? Trump or his following won't be professional.

Because then we all act like children instead of one side acting like children and the other acting like adults.

It's literally what he's doing and the media shouldn't try to be falsely 'neutral' on a president that is literally getting people killed on a daily basis.

Theres literally zero reason to be professional about it. Most of Trumps voting base is comprised of people who are well enough to do that their world can afford to be centered around their imagined white Christian ethnostate. They spend their days imagining slights against their tribe by some sort of coalition of brown people, and vote Republican solely because Kaepernick kneeled at a football game. They dont live in the same reality as the rest of us.

The news outlets don't report news, they write headlines. Headlines grab attention.

Trump makes headlines then tells his supporters that it's fake-news (it's not news. Period.)

It's a cycle that the media and Trump have been comfortable with for the last 4 years.

The news outlets are scared of the day that Trump gets voted out and the circus leaves town.

The thing with people like Trump is if you attack him, he thinks he's right and it fuels his base. That's basically the biggest takeaway I got from watching him debates in 2016, everyone just treated him like a joke and then he would say things were unfair and that it's clear people are out to get him. Attacking Trump seems to make him stronger. I wish we could have had Trump vs. Bernie just because I don't think Bernie would play his game. I don't know if Bernie could beat him, but I don't think he would actively hurt his chances like everyone who has ever faced Trump by playing his game.

That all said it doesn't really matter, his supporters are loyal to no end. You can make professional headlines and unbiased reports that show his short coming, and it won't change anything. Trump is at this point untouchable, you aren't going to win over a single one of his supporters.

Watching everything burn from the moral high ground is how we got in this situation.
