Are we really ready to open up if we are still this short on needed supplies for health care workers? We should really have everything lined up and ready to go before we open up anything. What if things go haywire and hospitals are flooded again, except this time they have no more protective masks?

We need to shutdown until at least July, preferably September. Preferably longer than that, if the virus sticks around.

They sold off their pandemic stockpile, created by Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006 for future pandemics, in 2011, for 5 million.

That also included ventilators.

I purchased n95 masks in preparation for this back in January/February. I figured my company wouldn't provide them for me(dialysis clinic). Now I'm the only RN wearing N95 masks at work. Also ordered KN95 masks if I run out of the N95s. Point is I didn't rely on my work to provide these items and they shouldn't have either, but I guess my way of thinking is not the norm. It really sucks for them tho, and I understand their reasoning.

That was smart of you. I have heard some terrible stories though of a few places that dont allow their medical staff to use their own PPE, for several reasons. Im glad youre staying safe.
