I honestly don't understand this battle system, but it seems that if I take too long making a choice then the enemy can attack?

Also lol these graphics are funny. So far I'm just following some guys and walking on pipes

Sadly I've never played a single Final Fantasy. I tried playing FF6 before but I just couldn't get into it.

On the other hand, I love Bravely Default (and Second), I just wish I had that Final Fantasy background knowledge

It doesnt make a world of difference, but play active

basically the ATB bar starts refilling after you use an attack. Think of it like cool down/startup. Wait freezes all time while fiddling around with menus, while active keeps it going. This ATB rule is in effect for both you and enemies

either way the game still feels pretty much like standard turn-based combat, it doesnt make too much of a difference one way or the other. But go Active

If you get up to do stuff in the middle of battle you'll keep getting hit in active mode.

Active is a bit faster though. There are fuck tons of random battles while exploring around the overworld

no benefits, active just makes the fight smooth and quick like the others said

i used wait because some fights you could trigger a boss' special stance (sets up a counter attack) when one of your unit damages it too much (then if you smashed that attack command, your other member could hit it while in that stance and die from the counter attack)

i dunno much about that that default
