she is amazing
she is 5 time undefeated world champion and they didnt have a gender division so she had to beat out men for that title (though this was forms and weapons so there was no contact it was just demonstrating you can use the weapons

sadly cynthia was never as successful in america as she was in china
she was in a ton of movies but they all went straight to video
some didnt seem to know how to market her as she was often the side kick to a male character rather than the star of the film.

and as an actress she wasnt great
when she wasnt having kickass action scenes she often felt like she was reading from a script and failing to really sell more emotional scenes.
there are worse actresses but they arent expected to carry a film

I think you should hold your expectations for regular acting when watching those types of movies.

She was certainly a staple of video stores in the 90's. It is a shame that she didn't appear in The Expendables, but had to settle for the cheaper knock-off version called Mercenaries with Kristinna Loken, Vivica A. Fox, Zoe Bell and Brigitte Nielsen. However, a lot of 90's video store favorites were not included in The Expendables so it's no surprise.

I just saw it last week. Before the state shut down, early last month I stopped at a used move and record store and found a DVD of China O'Brien. You better believe I snatched up that as fast possible. It still holds up, too. It's like warm early 90's video store nostalgia.

Her non-chinese stuff movies were god awful. I don't know if she's even well known enough here in the states to cast in Expendables.

But yes she's great in those 90's Hong Kong fighting flicks. I think she even had a few movies with Jackie Chan and Sammo in it.

she was in a lot of them and when thinking of female action stars of that era she is kind of the go to but yeah she wasnt as mainstream in america as others
and while her american films werent as good as her chinese films, some were still ok
