I was lucky enough to to have a theater nearby showing Endgame the Thursday before it's official release, and got to watch the movie with a full theater. Yes that is absolutely very accurate.

Yeah, I would find this immensely annoying when I just want to watch a movie. I can see how someone might like getting excited with everyone else in the audience, though.

Opening night for big ticket movies are like that yes. People also clap during the credits.

It's not as annoying as you might think, it's actually kind of fun like going to a ball game.

If you want an uninterrupted theater expierience then you go to a matinee.

I wouldn't enjoy that necessarily because it was sort of a pandering scene but that's the reason a lot of people enjoy those movies.

Captain America's assault on Thanos, however, was a great action scene.

I seriously don't see the issue here. They're hyped to watch the most hyped movie ever (which - even though it's not the best MCU movie, the level of hype was incomparable).

I went to a movie theater in America once.

I had to stand up to see over the popcorn the guy in front of me had, since he had it in his lap instead of on the floor, then when I did, there was a bright glow from people on their phones. When something exciting happened, everyone would cheer and clap and shoot their guns into the air, and one guy even jumped on his motorscooter and rode it around the theater waving one of those football flags.

I hate theaters like that. I like to be as totally enveloped and immersed into the film as possible, so I generally wait for like an early morning showing or a couple of weeks for things to calm down.

It sucks that I have to wait to get the experience I want, but I accept that the majority have decided it's cool to cheer and whatnot.

When I saw the the Thanos movie everyone took their cocks out and started helicoptering them and we all sang The Star Spangled banner. Throughout the entire movie. Of course after the credits we clapped and thanked Jesus Christ.

watching comedies you're expected to laugh
watching scary movies you're expected to scream
watching dramas or whatever you might be expected to cry

there's no movie where you're expected to yell or shout or go wooooo or clap
