But if they coughed direct ontop of you then there's probably nothing you can do.

Washing your hands and face immediately, then removing and washing your clothes, would greatly reduce the chances assuming the person didn't cough or sneeze directly into your mouth, nose, or eyes.

Even if they did, doing those things would be better than nothing.

Of course there would also be the fact that the surfaces around you would also be infected.

If they cough on your face, it can enter through the eyes, nose, and mouth. If it's in your eyes, you are as good as infected, unless you happen to have eye wash on hand and use it in the next 30 seconds. If it's in the mouth, you might be able to rinse it out with mouthwash, try not to swallow before you can. The nose is riskier, you can try to hold your breath, until you can flush your nasal cavities with a douche, but don't hold your breath in regards to effectiveness.

But all that require you having access to the proper equipment, and can use it in time. Otherwise, accept that you have just become infected.
