Then the start screen just gets cluttered. With Fences you can customize it so much, you can have them only drop down when you mouse over, like my Folders and Downloads ones. You can make them auto hide by double clicking, and can pick and choose which ones to auto hide, I have one for organization when modding games that is hidden until I double click, you can also put separate pages as well. So useful.

I have a folder on my Desktop labeled 'Desktop Icons'. Any icon or file placed on my desktop, goes in there.
