Well for starters, it's a serialized drama with fantasy elements and high production values. There are more similarities too, but they are obviously very different shows, seeing as Outlander takes place during different time periods on Earth.

its about how characters manage people and factions with their relationships with each. its more like GoT with the same problems of living with others. fiction elements blend well enough with historic events of the colonial times. the romance is timeless and told properly. you get to know about 1 well enough and root for that character then the story begins...
