"You came to the wrong neighborhood," shouted the blood-thirsty cutthroat. "...Because the lockdown curfews must be enforced if we're all to be safe. Please pay attention to the local procedures and stay tuned for further information."

I remember reading that the Yakuza in Japan are actually respected people for the most part, and they try to help their community as much as possible. They refuse to get innocents involved in their illegal activities and anyone that attacks innocents is severely punished.

People defending gangs is maybe the true sign of a complete idiot. Everyone can do something good sometimes. Doesn't excuse rape, murder, torture and theft. Bill Cosby helped plenty of people.

There is a difference between gangs and organized crime. Organized crime is completely different than the games that you see in America. Organized crime, while still innately bad, doesn't like to involve innocents in their warfare, the reason being that it brings too much attention to what they are trying to do. They aren't good per say, but they are certainly easier to deal than a gun crazy thug group.

Are the organized gangs in Brazil that much worse than Bolsonaro and his cronies? I doubt it.

and I could say that your so out of touch with reality if you don't think this. Organized crime doesn't want to be associated with petty theft as it:

A: Devalues their organization to those buying their product
B: Can force the police to start arresting their members and interrupt bigger crimes they intend to commit

If one of their members kills a civilian or commits a petty crime it puts their entire operation at risk, and they could lose millions of dollars in revenue. If they kill another gang member, well that's just one less dirt bag off the streets.

I guess youve never heard of mexican drug cartels. They cut off cops heads and kidnap and rape people. Kinda curious as to what goody twoshoes organized crime youre even referring to? Any examples.

I'm not saying there aren't bad apples in the bunch, but the Mexican drug cartels actively have people pursuing them at all times.

What does that have to do with anything? Those guys also make their money off poisoning and ruining communities with drugs. Ive barely even mentioned the violence they commit. Was that who you were thinking of?

Imagine walking down a dark alley to take a shortcut home. There's a shady looking figure just standing there. You decide to brave it and rush past him when you hear him shout "Hey motherfucker. Don't you know to keep 6 feet away from people right now?"

Policia, Federales..... that's what I meant. They got more people chasing after them than the Twix Rabbit. And I gave you examples: Yakuza and Triads. Christ Al Capones gang was considered Organized crime that wouldn't kill innocent people, at least from what I remember.

That's what I thought of too. Gangs would be better off it they were more like yakuza instead of even more brutal ISIS.

it isn't to say they aren't dangerous. From what I remember hearing locals pretty much leave them alone.
