Take out is still there yeah, but theyre still losing a lot of business.... how long can this realistically go before things start closing permanently? Will the economy start collapsing completely?

I live in a main bar strip in my city, one of the highest volume. And I'm very lucky to work there and make decent money. Already, 3/14 bars on the street are not going to reopen period. Already.

They won't, and most jobs from surviving corporations won't be there to go back to. The sheer volume of unemployment applications is staggering right now.

Well we used to pull in around $8,000 a week day. We run 2 cooks on week days with an average pay of $18/hr, 2 managers with an average pay of $19/hr, 2 take out people at $10/hr, 1 salad at $10/hr and 3 dishwashers at $9/hr along with 6 servers at $3/hr. Totals to $1,490 in payroll for one, 10 hour week day. Now doing just take out we have averaged $2,000 a day with 1 cook at $15/hr, 1 manager at $19/hr, and 2 take out (1 is take out and 1 is salad, dish, deliveries etc) at $10/hr. Totaling $432 per day. We are making proportionally more money compared to payroll with less food costs and less utility costs. I think we will actually be fine, so long as business holds out. Our owner also said he doesn't care about making a profit, we just need enough to cover expenses and payroll (including his take) and that's all taken care of at the moment. We also did around $4000 on Saturday with the same payroll so that was nice. Many other places won't be so fortunate though.

Sounds like your place is popular.

Glad to see you are doing ok. But your post shows another problem, what happens to the other 12 employees that you needed before?

It is the most popular restaurant in town. Our city only has around 8000 people yet we get travelers from out of town that make detours just to eat here, even though I find that kinda strange.

When business inevitably picks back up they'll rehire them. Maybe not all at once but eventually.

That's 12 employees a day. We had to have around 40 people file for unemployment until this is over. Which really sucks for them but I was only talking about the business itself.

Yeah this. They still have their jobs, they just can't work until we can open back up fully.
