I had the test done on Friday, results due back today (quest diagnostics processing sample)

It's identical to the flu test. A nasopharyngeal swab is preferred. That's where they jam a swab up your nose and it feels like they touch your brain. Medical professional needs to get the sample and then get the sample to the lab for processing.

The test makes a lot of people sneeze / cough so it's a pretty hazardness for the provider administering the test.. You need to wear a face mask, face shield, gloves and a protective gown / coat. I'd say that's the biggest reason not everyone is testing, even medical practices are having a real tough time keeping the proper protective gear stocked up.
