I just got to the Paleontologist in Heartman's chapter. I took a detour to get the chiral network up with the Veteran Porter.

I can see why somebody wouldn't enjoy this game. But I'm really digging the progression of building infrastructure, and I'm enjoying the challenge rn of running around the mountains. I think I have all the optional preppers at least on Bridges. Might get them on UCA before I'm done playing tbh.

I'm playing through it, but I'm trying not to focus on non-story related deliveries.

maybe I'm screwing myself over, but I wanna see where the story goes.

Nah, that's the way to do it imo. Only focus on delivering to people who give you exoskeletons or other upgrades you really want.

Late game you get access to stuff that makes side orders way easier. Just wait until then to dig in there.

I finished with like 90 hours, enjoyed pretty much all of it. The gameplay clicked for me immediately. I think I failed a delivery once or twice and died maybe 10 times. I remember a 50 hour stint where I never died or messed up a delivery. I think if I failed deliveries I would of got fed up pretty fast. It's already repetitive enough, but to be repetitive and not get the progression...nope.

I had a LOT of edibles in the middle of the game tho. It kind of made me forget everything about the story already. I remember enjoying it when it was on screen tho

I'm like 45 hours in. A lot of that extra play time was building roads tbh, but I enjoyed it well enough. I like that you don't really need to do any side stuff to progress, but having the highway infrastructure is nice. I've gotten like 60 legend of legends just setting up infrastructure and getting those preppers in line.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. Not sure how many hours I put in but the way the game makes your brain active during something as seemingly simple as locomotion is an experience unlike any other.

I'm not sure if I'll continue.

I'm still early in the game (right after you get the grenades), and I'm on what's supposed to be your longest delivery yet...then it starts raining and my cargo gets destroyed by the timefall.

They really botched it on putting caves in the game after they showed you a cave in the beginning. I just book it and always carry sprays.

I think that I also don't like how, outside of the rain, it feels like there's no real threat (so far)

the enemies are really easy to dispose of, and I know combat isn't the game's focus (especially since killing mules can apparently cause void outs), but I prefer it to sneaking.

I'm not saying that the game is bad, but it hasn't yet clicked, for me.

the only part that I actively dislike is how often people call you up.

edit: but I really like it when you're making a delivery, and music just starts playing

You do get more non lethal combat options later in the game (rubber bullet guns, stun grenades, nonlethal grenade launcher,) and some more anti BT stuff, but tbh at a point you basically never have to encounter human enemies or BT's outside of some scripted segments or retrieval orders. If you're not playing on hard already I'd switch over. Idk what normal is like, but hard mode is still fairly easy but I get an enjoyable amount of difficulty in travel, especially in the later areas.

But if you don't enjoy the challenge of getting stuff from point A to the point B while meeting delivery requirements, I wouldn't force yourself much longer.

Edit: I basically only go to mule camps to farm materials. If you're in need of a lot of ceramics, the best way to get them is to clear a mule camp that has them and loot their post boxes.

Just got to Episode 11. I think I'm in the end game now. I had my fun but I'm somewhat relieved that there's an end in sight lol. But knowing Kojima I have at least like 5 hours left even if I basically started the ending sequence.

Just finished it. Really enjoyed the ending sequence tbh. Solid purchase, definitely worth giving a shot at least imo.

I got all the cities into the UCA and got 65ish Legend of Legends. I feel satisfied with that, not gonna 5 star anybody or go for more S ranks.
