It's from Axios. And it seems like some of you don't think we should worry about Biden at all until the day after he loses.

Well, voters will hold Democrats accountable in 2022. That's probably when we stop pretending we're going to do anything other than purestrain austerity. I'm sure they'll exempt most of the Boomers from raised retirement age though, can't piss off the olds.

Edit: Here, have a map before I go to work: https://www.270towin.com/maps/8xm12
That could change a bit, based on what the economy does and how the coronavirus business shakes out, of course.

Because older voters want to feel comfortable. They don't want to feel like they made mistakes, they don't want to feel like they were wrong, and they definitely don't want to confront the reality that Trump is nothing more than a symptom of the countless problems that face this country. They want to vote for some one they don't have to pay attention to. Some one who lets them tune out, some one who absolves them of any and all responsibility, some one who doesn't make them feel like they were wrong to sell out and settle.
Above all, they want to feel comfortable, to feel everything is fine.

Well, when the visible portion of Bernies movement is saying that they'll just write in Bernie in the general or will vote Trump, because "fuck the DNC" its hard not to think that would become an issue

Especially when those same people, when Bernie was on top, were stressing that Biden/Buttigieg/Warren etc supporters should vote Bernie in the general if he were to win.

I don't understand why some Bernie supporters think that if Biden loses to Trump, they'll have another chance in 4 years and be better off. That's at least one more SCOTUS justice for Trump, likely 2. The very idea behind Bernies movement would be dead in the water for 20+ years

TL/DR: if you are a Bernie supporter, an actual supporter, swallow your pride and get Trump out. If, in the unlikely event that Bernie beats Biden, we'll do the same.

It comes down to this: I do not think even with a united front backing that Biden is electable. Trump will eat him for lunch in debates and political ads will absolutely ruin him in battleground states. The man can barely form coherent sentences. We made fun of Dubya for being poorly spoken but at least he just mangled metaphors and mispronounced words. Biden legit comes off as crazy or senile even to people who support him

Some people may not like Bernie's politics or his policies but I don't think anyone can deny he's great on the stump. The guy oozes charisma, and he's one of the cleanest people in DC. They have to go back 30+ years to find "dirt" on him and the worst they can do is find instances of him being a bit insensitive.

If you REALLY want Trump out of office you'll stop slurping the dick of whoever the party shills are trying to put forth and back a candidate who can actually fight Trump at his own game, because Biden's going to get his ass kicked every time he opens his mouth.

It doesn't matter if he doesn't get elected the 2nd year because that means a republican won.

Biden getting the nom would be an absolute blow to there ever being a decent shot at a progressive in the white house before this country completely falls apart.

I'm really tired of seeing this "Democrats are making the same mistake" bullshit so I'm going to call you out on this.

Look at counties where Hillary did better in 2016 than Obama did in 2012. They're almost all large, diverse and growing urban areas with a young, highly educated population that tends to lean farther to the left than the average voter. The most progressive areas of the country. The same places where Bernie performs best. Hillary did not lose in 2016 because progressive voters were unwilling to come out and vote for a moderate, she did better with those voters.

Now look at counties where she won by a smaller margin than Obama and you'll find they tend to be full of Democrats that are older, whiter, more conservative and work blue-collar jobs. That's why she lost the rust belt.

But where Hillary really got killed was in conservative counties:

Its in the regions Obama lost that Clinton felt the most pain. In red counties, she received only 84 percent of the presidents votes in 2012, finishing 2.1 million behind. Even if Clinton matched Obama in turnout for every county he won that year, that wouldnt erase her deep disadvantage in conservative areas that the president himself couldnt clinch.

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/12/hillary-clintons-surprising-vote-deficit/509174/

Hillary didn't lose because Americans wanted a more progressive candidate, or because the base didn't turn out for her. She lost because she wasn't popular with conservative Democrats and swing voters. There's zero evidence behind what you're saying. Maybe get some self-awareness and look at the reasons people ARE coming out to vote for Biden.

We all know you dont feel the need to look for an excuse to shit on Sanders supporters. No need to start pretending now.

Let me say it again... you were gloating that young voters didnt come out to vote for Sanders, someone who is insanely popular with that demographic. So if this demographic full of Bernie Bros doesnt vote for Sanders, yall cant blame them if Biden loses. I honestly dont know who will win. I hope its not Trump.

Also, Hillary actively ignored the rust belt states, and conservative media painted her as the devil. Thats why she lost there. She wasnt some progressive bastion like youre painting her to be.

Im a progressive who will vote for the moderate if they win, because letting the conservatives win sets the cause back even farther...
