I remember it being used to kind of brute force region lock chips into playing out of zone PSX games. you can pull the thingy that tells the PSX that the tray is closed, and then spin a legit disk, wait for it slow down then swap a burned game, then swap a legit disk again, wait for it to slow down and then swap a burned one again and play the game --- ~TRC ...
