Saints Row 2 had one of the best protagonists, ever. Male, or female, no matter the voice. It's why I usually rotated between my dude and my girl while playing, because The Boss is so well written and entertaining.

I almost always choose a female if the game gives me a choice just to make it feel different after a lifetime of male prog's.
