A few problems: With just a single LGBTQ character, the modern world of Onward isnt so modern. Officer Specter makes only a brief appearance in a single scene and refers once to her girlfriend. Viewers dont ever meet or see the girlfriend, according to Slate.

And though the film takes place in a magical kingdom with fantastical creatures, the other characters in the trailer all look pretty ... normal

one throwaway scene they can just edit out for the international release, seems like normal for disney.

There are basically two types of Disney LGBTQ scenes at the moment

  1. Two minor or unnamed characters of the same gender kiss in celebration
  2. Minor character mentions their off screen partner who is the same gender
I think that covers everything in their movies.
