Disgaea series is great.
FF Tactics and Tactics Ogre are classics. If you have a ton of time to invest the Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky games are great. Some lesser talked about examples are Vandal Hearts and Front Mission. But a real underrated gem is Rhapsody A Musical Adventure. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

if you play final fantasy tactics go for the ps1 version (but i don't really recommend this, even if it's stupidly popular)

I haven't played any SRPGs outside of Fire Emblem, buuuuut...
Genealogy of the Holy War is one of my favorite games of all time. If you've somehow avoided the major spoiler for halfway through that game, then it's worth playing just for that moment. That scene still gives me chills every time. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Shining Force is one of my favorite games. When other kids were being Batman or Goku, I was Max or Zylo.

Jeanne D'Arc for PSP is a good one as well. It's basically a fantasy/Power Rangers style retelling of the actual events

If you're looking for a really weird one, look into Ambition of the Slimes on 3DS/Vita/Switch/Steam/phones
