Are parasites evil? Or are they a product of evolution? Do they intentionally cause infection or is that a byproduct of simply being in your body?

True. Also, the poor families were pretty evil to each other.

There is no bad guy. Maybe you mean to ask who the parasite is. The poor, the basement poor, and the rich family are ALL parasites.

But the rich family fed them and/or gave them jobs.

I don't understand how you watch a film like that and then ask the topic title.

I have no idea whether or not he's a racist, but apparently there are recordings of him using racial slurs so it's a distinct possibility.

"Because the story is about the poor family infiltrating and creeping into the rich house, it seems very obvious that Parasite refers to the poor family, and I think that's why the marketing team was a little hesitant," Bong said. "But if you look at it the other way, you can say that rich family, they're also parasites in terms of labor. They can't even wash dishes, they can't drive themselves, so they leech off the poor family's labor. So both are parasites."

It's just a direct interpretation... there's no argument really. This is from the director himself.

The film more crystallizes the ethos of South Korean society as it is currently. There really is no message, but more of 'this is what most of us believe/resonate with'.

If anything, the more deeper readers of the film would question the son's resolution. Is getting a lot of money the cure to this situation? Many of the South Korean young have this perspective, and it's not being addressed ideologically.

Yeah was gonna say this. The rich fam needed the comfort of the poor fams help so much that they didn't even bother thinking "gee all of our workers are suddenly leaving/being fired all at once isn't that a little suspicious?". As long as they got replacements quick and that they came from the recommendation of the poor fam.

Don't like em don't click em, it's that simple.

You can argue everyone is pretty awful in the movie for various reasons.

Yep. And it's a weird feels kind of movie. The sister dies so it's sad. The brother couldn't even properly mourn because of his brain damage. And then he makes this plan to properly make money to buy the house and finally free his dad and it's kind of endearing.

And then you remember his dad literally stabbed a dude because the dude thought he smelled lol
