It should also be noted that more effective forms of taxation on the wealthy still don't take in enough money to pay for Europe's welfare state. European nations pay for that by having a far more regressive taxation system than the US has.

You don't introduce a tax because people can pay, you introduce it because it's an effective form of generating revenue. Wealth taxes are extremely expensive to administer, bring in very little revenue, deter investment and lead to capital flight. Most countries repealed their wealth taxes for that reason.

Amazon makes use of R&D spending tax credits which exist for good reason. Even then, it pays billions in other federal taxes (employment) and local taxes. But none of this matters because a company can't really pay taxes, it's a legal entity. A "corporate" tax is a regressive tax on workers. It should be lowered as much as possible, preferably eliminated.

For some people, profiting off as many people as humanly possible and giving back as little in return as possible and hording as much wealth as possible to themselves is what america is all about

before we talk about healthcare for all we need to address a few things:

1. the border....we can't just let everyone into the country and give them all the benefits. The country just can't absorb that purely from a mathematical point of view, nevermind everything else.
2. We don't have the money for a 1.5 trillion dollar bill. We're broke.
3. We can't just say "here all these people get free medicine" meanwhile ignoring the elephant in the room of healthcare costs, which are not just all bullshit invented by doctors to rob the little man.
4. Republicans and Democrats would have to actually agree on this....and good fucking luck there.
5. Increasing the taxes on the 1% no matter how wealthy they are isn't going to get the money for this, not when we have a government that seems to have 0 concept of a budget and is 22 trillion in the hole and that's just official stuff. Projected unfunded stuff that we have to pay for puts our budget well past 100 trillion, if not in the 200-300 trillion range and that may be underestimating it. We simply do not have the money for any new spending bills, period.

In short we are a very very long way from being at point where we should even be having this discussion. Yet since democrats have thrown this into the spotlight, here we are. And I get it, healthcare is a mess, but it's an expensive mess, and we are quite frankly a country with an absurd amount of debt. Dave Ramsey loves to recommend a rice and beans diet to get out of debt? well we can't even afford that.

That sums up Sanders' entire campaign. The bulk of everything he's promising will be paid for by the middle class.

Here's the problem with taxing the wealthy, they will hire tax attorneys and find legal ways to avoid paying tax. For instance, they'll donate millions of dollars to various charities and have very low taxable income. Bernie hasn't offered any solution to necessarily fixing the tax code or limiting itemized deductions. His message is basically "Fuck it, let's just increase the highest tax bracket to a ridiculously high amount." The insanely wealthy people will be more inclined to find legal ways to pay less. When the highest tax bracket doesn't pay the burden will fall on the upper middle class.

Nonsense, why in the world does the US or any other country need to have kids? The old fashioned argument for it to grow the economy? That idea was made before the concept of automation.

Another key reason is sustainability. Want a real solution to climate change? Stop having so many kids.
