It's just to bad the article is all "look how awesome this person of a historically slighted group is!" instead of "holy shit! cure for cancer!!"

There is no cure for cancer. All cancers are different

I did some synthesis and research on ferromagnetic nanoparticles last summer. It's amazing stuff

The way it works is pretty simple. They're small enough to pass through cell walls. You can either fit it with a heat sensitive polymer shell that carries medication, or heat the particle directly with an electromagnetic field to raise the local temperature high enough to kill cancer cells.

It's extremely precise, having little to no impact on the surrounding cells

True. It would be way too broad to say that it's a full cure for cancer. Only in this specific situation she cured it in those specific mice with this technique

All I recall is something along the lines of "reconstruction sucked, thus the great migration happened".

But, "look what [group] did [thing]!" is just condescending. It implies that [group] was somehow not expected to achieve [thing], and lessens the individual by shoving him or her into a category.

Reconstruction itself wasn't bad, but the compromise of February 26 1877 and the events afterwards (Federal troops withdrawing protection allowing the Southerners to fully abuse, murder and oppress the Black populace with Black codes KKK etc.) Was bad. After that thats when you get a big migration wave of Blacks moving North.

What should have happened was the freed people getting their own territory of fertile land so they could set up their own state and governorship maybe as a territory of the USA or a separate state all together. Although the Southerners were savage the way they treated Black Freedmen, I hear the Northerners weren't good either dealing with the Southerners and took advantage in some ways as well and they felt as if they were occupied by a foreign army that they were just at war with as well. So it wasn't perfect for any side. Even though most can agree they don't like what the Confederacy stands for

That separation plan could have been a good solution for all 3 parties.

nano particle therapy sounds like some sci fi shit, or something kojima made up.

still, it would be fucking amazing if this led to breakthroughs in human medicine (since, you know, i have something to gain from it, personally).
