Just finished case 3.

Pretty fun. I like the personality-rich animations, like Phoenix upset and when Edgeworth does his smug bow. It's bizarre how there's the random super natural element. Can other people perceive Maya as Mai? Why aren't people freaked out?

Seems like this would have been an innovative game for the time? The gameplay seems unique.

The supernatural aspect does get fleshed out in future games but it's kind of out of place in the first one.

The localization takes place in Los Angeles. Lotta is supposed to be a southerner. Originally it took place in a vague Japanese city and Lotta is from Kansai.

You honestly just need to keep going back and forth to all the open locations, search everything, present every piece of evidence to everyone, and hope that you stumble upon the one thing that you missed (and probably thought youd done).

Its happened to all of us in those games.

It's mostly just combing through certain screens multiple times while shoving evidence in peoples' faces to get a reaction. I personally found it much more satisfying to investigate in Ace Attorney Investigations. Just warning you now, Rise from the Ashes is gonna be a hell of a nut to crack your first time through.

Ace Attorney's legal system is based on Japan's real life legal system where prosecutors are basically guaranteed to win and punishments are often excessive.

For investigating, there are often certain clues that are necessary for the trial. You're basically on pause until you find those clues. Upon replaying, I found that often the game will try to guide you towards them, with characters hinting at where to go, but not all the time.

My friends says case 5 was added later and is very hard. Should I play it before moving on to the second game?

Last case isn't hard, but it's super long. Nearly as long as the rest of the cases combined.

Also it's kind of bad, but everyone else loves so, so I dunno. Future games make reference to some characters featured in it.

Case 5 is only retroactively made canon after the original trilogy, but it's also one of my favorite cases of the first game with my actual favorite culprit so definitely don't sleep on this one.

Case 5 had a legitimate contradiction that the game developers missed. Nothing major and its early on, but that stumped me for a while.
