You could do a lengthy quest in pokemon go and then walk it for like several hundred kilometers to get enough candy to evolve it, and then wait fir them to add pokemon go transferring to pokemon home

Yes, the easiest way to do this is just to have let's go Pikachu or Eevee and use the Mystery Box every week

Let's Go is a lot of fun. Shiny hunting / catch combos are the best part. But without abilities or items, the battle system is just too simplified. Some of the mega evolutions don't make sense because they lack abilities (Mega Pidgeot).
