Trumpers listen up for once

Unemployment is low, but unfortunately unemployment is not a great indicator of how many people are hungry," says Jocelyn Lantrip, from the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, which supplies charities, including St Vincent's Food Pantry.
And often, those going hungry - or temporarily homeless - are people who already have jobs.

This is what I was saying when everyone was praising Obama's unemployment rates, and they were higher than they are now.

Taxes went up 90 billion under Trump in 2018.

Not hard to see who foot the bill for that when tax breaks were handed out to the extremely wealthy.

Americans PAID more in taxes because of the tax cuts under Donald Trump

americans paid more in taxes because the economy grew during the presidency of donald trump, and the economic growth very slightly outstripped the lost revenues from corporate sources and very wealthy taxpayers, in 2018 to the order of a net increase in tax revenues of ~10 billion, or 0.3%

trying to tie the economic growth to the tax cuts, however, is making assumptions: there is not a clear and direct link between tax cuts and economic growth. aside from 2008 and 2009 (the recession), tax receipts have always been increasing, generally 4-10% per year. actual 2019 and estimated 2020 numbers point to a return to the historical growth rate.

All I can say is that my taxes went up in 2018 where as my wages didn't and I didn't make enough to be considered middle class at the time.

I was promoted in 2019 so I don't have an apples to apples comparison for 2018-2019

Prove it

2018 onward tax brackets: 10/12/22%, higher standard deduction
2017 brackets: 10/15/25%, lower standard deduction than 2018

I mean, it's literally impossible to say "my taxable income is the same and somehow, getting a larger deduction and having lower tax rates for my income brackets resulted in a higher income tax".

I'm not really interested in getting into this a 2nd time with some average Trump supporter.

2 facts: Americans paid 90 billion more in taxes and tax cuts were given to the extremely wealthy. That's as far as I'm interested in discussing this with you. You can keep your head in the sand if you want to

One issue is that people are trying to live in cities they obviously can't afford with their minimal skillset.

That's not on Trump.

If you're "not even middle income class" then I really don't see how you are itemizing enough to not use the standard deduction.

You're not interested because it's literally impossible to pay more on the same income unless you're (1) lying or (2) omitting other income items that causes differences between the two years. Again it's fucking math that makes it impossible.

And every year tax receipts increase, due to the growth of the economy and the workforce. Unless you want to show me how this "$90 billion" increase is solely from the middle class and not from various taxes (gift, estate, payroll, excise, etc).

Yeah. Throwing random numbers around isn't proving anything. Personally, I did pay slightly less in taxes, but my investments including retirement funds took a hit in 2018, the amount I save in taxes was pennies compared to that hit.
