Funny enough, it is only kept alive mainly because of the American audience.

Round 1 and Dave and Busters will usually have one of the new versions.

Occasionally. Depends on if the one at my local bowling alley is in good repair. Thankfully one of the staff members is part of the old Bemani crowd I was with in its heyday.

That said, what was easy at 130 is a pain in the ass at 180. I get winded way too easily. More motivation for cardio.

I love DDR, I used to have so many PS1 versions, lol. I used to play everything on Heavy except only the hardest stuff like Paranoia and all those "boss" kind of songs. It's a really really fun way to work out, tbh

It took me a while too. Main reason I got into Pump it Up was because of the music library. It had a lot of songs I already knew and liked and knowing the rhythm really helped me adapt.

I remember the 2nd/3rd Mix days when Paranoia on Basic was a rite of passage. Spent most of age 16 trying to pass it on Konamix out of fear I'd embarrass myself in the arcade. (Did anyway.)

I got into the game fairly late (around 2005 I'd say) so it was extremely bittersweet for me when arcades started to fizzle out big time and people left the scene. Still had a lot of great memories and got to compete in a couple tournaments (one of which I won) so it was okay.

I actually still play it. I have a shitty ass old desktop computer running Windows XP with Stepmania, a Cobalt Flux pad I bought in 2005 that still works like new, plus a Red Octane (remember those guys? lol) adapter to convert it from PS2 to USB. It's still a good form of exercise honestly, I greatly prefer it to running or whatever.

I played the fuck out of DDR when was between 10 and 12 years old. Helped that my dad worked at a mall that had an arcade so i spent a lot of time at the arcade playing. I just can't move as fast now, the last i could still play and not fail was 8 years ago.

I tried playing 2 years ago but got winded and failed on the 2nd song. My pride thinks i can still play but my body says nope LOL.

Can kick ass when playing with a controller though LOL. What i wouldn't give to be as good as i was back in the day.

I miss hitting the arcades on the weekend and playing DDR, putting a token or quarter on the machine to call next. The mini tournaments the regulars would have...I'd give anything to experience that again.

A few arcades within maybe a 50 mile radius of me still have DDR Extreme, every once in a while I'll go play at the one. The problem is the volume is turned down on them so it's not like it used to be and can be hard to hear the songs. I guess the arcade owners don't realize it's not all just hitting the arrows by sight. I would like to get it set up in my basement one of these days and start playing again, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

I played DDR for exercise up until last year. But then I moved and I just have not bothered setting up the old systems they are in. I have the PS2 and Wii versions. They are just too old and I have too many systems set up as it is so it is inconvenient.

I'd wish they would do a release on any of the newer systems but that's not gonna happen.

It is still around. I can play Max 300 on expert which is rated as a 15 on the new machines. I pass it most of the time now, but it took a long time to get that good.
