im not trolling in the slightest. My wife used to work for child protective services regardless of what you believe to be the case, it can be considered abuse. If you send your child to their room for more than an hour that is considered neglect, if you put them in the corner it is considered mental abuse.

unless you have a damn clue shut the fuck up and dont call people trolls when you litterally do not know shit. Whether it is actual abuse or not does not matter to the courts, or cps. Cps has deemed it as abuse.
lmfao yeah okay bub.

What are we supposed to just beat our children then? Ya thats against the law, and also a shitty thing to do and unfortunately some kids dont listen no matter what the parents do so suck it up and mind youre own damn business.

intolerant dipshits who dont have kids and likely never will acting like its the parents fault. You know fuck all. The best we as parents can do is take away our kids toys, you cant put a child in a corner thats abuse, you cant send them to their rooms thats abuse, you can raise your voice but that makes you look like an asshole and also does not accomplish anything.

so tc what are we supposed to do hmm?

Leave.

Yeah sorry but this is not believable in the slightest

when you yell or threaten or impose timeouts or deprive your children of things they enjoy, your children they a) feel resentful and b) stop communicating. They stop telling you things you should know, they lie to escape punishment, their self-esteem suffers they act out more. And those core needs? Theyre still not being met.

All punishments are ineffective, because the vast majority of kids dont misbehave they behave. They behave like kids. They dont do things to be bad, they do things because those things are age appropriate, or because theyre still learning, or because theyre not getting some basic need met. Maybe they are hungry or tired? maybe they are overstimulated or overwhelmed? maybe they need a hug. Or maybe they just dont know how to process whatever emotion theyre feeling.

The more you use punishments to respond to behavior, the more you are actually escalating behavior and creating a reality where you have more behavior problems. it takes the core need of the child and uses it as a bargaining chip. A child has a lot of core needs, one of the most vital is emotional attachment parents sacrifice this when they place their kids in timeouts.

its damn hard to be a parent, I have two children one has developmental delays and is a real hair puller at times you dont know struggle. But punishments have never worked with my kids.

it most certainly can be. It not always is but if you do any of the following it certainly is, If you yell at your child in an angry voice and threaten to put them in timeout that is abuse, if they have a specific spot away from you that is abuse, if you refuse to interact with your child while in timeout it is abuse, mental abuse and neglect. If you physically move your child to timeout that is physical abuse. I could go on but im not going too Ive said enough and am tired of being called a troll for simply knowing better due to being married to a cps worker and having friends who are child pyschologists due to that fact.

So I asked my wife about the cps claims myself. Shes a social worker and has worked at a womens and family shelter and whos worked with cps her entire career and she said the idea of timeout and sending your kid to their room for bad behavior is bullshit and your wife would be fired from cps if she ever told any parents that. In my experience, it's the parents faults.
Kids cry most of the time because they're hungry or tired. You can fix this by making sure they're fed and not running errands with them for hours at a time
Thats only true for infants. Also poopy diaper.

My daughter is usually pretty good in stores, and I'm not taking her anywhere fancy or were the expectation is silence or whatever. I get that sometimes a kid will just randomly act up and start screaming or something, and you may not be able to instantly silence them, but yeah, just... get out ASAP. I've been lucky and never really had to do anything other than hurry a little because I can sense a breakdown is coming, but I've avoided them in public so far. But yeah I don't get the people that just slowly continue on their way with a child screaming, or what is probably even worse is when the parent just starts yelling at the kid for 20 minutes and its way worse than hearing a little kid cry.

i think its because they got shit to do. Most people cant just drop what they are doing and abandon their responsibilities because their kid is complaining. also, giving in to the tantrums where the kid doesnt get their way and melts down is enabling behavior.

something to also keep in mind is that at a certain age the kid doesnt just cry because their needs arent being met. At a certain point the kid realizes they can try and be manipulative to get what they want. A lot of public tantrums are basically I want this give me this.

I personally blame the stores and the consumerist culture we live in for literally everytime my kid has made a ruckus in public. They put candy and branded shit all over the place. A store with a kid is basically boobytrapped with triggers

What grinds my gears is when they do that counting shit. "1...2...2 and a half..." and whenever they get passed that, they just tell them to stop in a even louder voice or don't anything at all.

No half measures. Just punish them on the spot.

Every checkout is a candy isle. It's sadistic. I always thought it was for adults with bad impulse control tho. Either way it's predatory tactics.

I was spanked, punished, grounded, sent to my room, yelled at when I misbehaved and I turned into a well adjusted functioning successful adult.

Kids these days are such entitled little shits and their parents give them everything they want because it's easier than actually disciplining them. Lazy parenting tbqh.
