Probably could have gone my entire life without hearing cracking and wet tearing sounds echoing through my head, but I'm glad to finally have them out. Had one of them break in half in October, exposing the nerve, and various issues have made me wait until now to get them all yanked.

Also, and this is pretty awesome, thanks to scum fuck drug addicts, the oral care network that my insurance has me part of no longer prescribes opioids. Which is just excellent. I get to take 200mg of Ibuprofen every eight hours. For giant holes and incisions in my mouth.

Did you get drugged during the process? My dentist keeps recommending me to take mine out before they do anything but they haven't bothered me yet and I'm 28

They gave me some kind of Vicodin after they took mine out.

I took a couple of those pills and I was like "nope, not taking anymore, I fully understand how this is addicting"

No, just had a local done. I've had a few procedures done over the years, and I really hate being knocked out or gassed. Both were an option though.

Edit: From my understanding, they push really hard to have them taken out ASAP because the older you are when and if you need them done, the higher the risk of shit going wrong is.

I had mine taken out 2 years ago when I was 26, and the guy doing it was quite hesitant to prescribe any opioids. I guess now they are even less likely to do it!

TBH I only ended up using a single pill from that prescription, the pain ended pretty quickly, it didn't hurt as much as I expected it to. I think I still have the rest of those pills lol

It was so annoying trying to make sure I didn't get a dry socket for the next few weeks.

I took local anesthetic because it was cheaper and because I didn't have anybody to drive me home after.

You do realize a lot of people become opioid addicts because they get them after surgeries like the one you had this morning right?

It isn't like people wake up one morning and say "hey, today I'm gonna get addicted to drugs, sounds like a good plan"

mine gave me that after. didnt really need it much after the first day though

I've only had one come in, and it was in a place where I'd had a tooth extracted already, so it hasn't caused any issues. I feel like I've been lucky with that.

Because apparently, there are people out there who are so strung out they get teeth ripped out of their face so they can get a few days worth of drugs.

It was just a few years ago that I ended up with 130 vicodins over the course of a dentist and orthodontic surgeon finally deciding that I needed a root canal done.
The pills didn't do anything but cause severe night sweats and bizarre dreams.

I think the media overblows people breaking their own hands and shit for a few hydrocodone pills. When I was coming up we were all bumping OC 80s every fuckin day and I don't know of anyone that actually did some shit like that. And I bet I seriously know 50 people (including 4 or 5 dead now) that have had or have an opiate addiction. They aren't gonna give you anything you can snort or IV so jesus just go get methadone or suboxone from the clinic.

I had all four of mine taken out a few years ago. They weren't bothering me, but I was starting to get cavities in a couple of them so it just seems easier to get rid of 'em. It wasn't as painful as they say, but bled a LOT. Like, for days, and ruined a shirt and some sheets.

I've been taking 800mg/8 since October. Having surgery actually cut the amount of Ibuprofen I'm supposed to take to a quarter of what I took yesterday.

I'm not really upset about it, it honestly doesn't hurt much and I've been through way, way worse. Just happens to be on my mind is all.

Also mixing 500mg tylenol with your ibuprofen helps too. Somehow they synergize or something.

It's because Ibuprofen is an NSAID, and acetaminophen isn't. They each get used by different parts of the body, so you can't hurt yourself by taking a dose of both of them.

I actually gave myself gastritis by eating five to ten Aleve(an NSAID) every day for over ten years because of my leg. Once you almost rot your own guts out, you either learn everything you can to prevent it from happening again or you die. I'm something of an unwilling expert in OTC pain medicine now.

Granted I just had them taken out five hours ago and I don't know if maybe day 2 is when everything shits it's pants, but I can tell you that as far as I've experienced, the recovery is not that bad, and it has absolutely nothing on the pain that comes when something does go wrong with your wisdom teeth.

Mine never gave me pain until that one broke in half, and the last few months have been absolute hell.
