The plot continues pretty directly from it and even ties up some loose ends. With that being said, the first one was a completely different type of movie than this one. The first one is a much more of a horror comedy. This one goes way more sci-fi comedy. I love both of them equally for different reasons, though. I look forward to the inevitable third one.
