If that happens, Romney would be the literal only untarnished prominent Republican on the national level and be a prohibitive front runner in 2024 or 2028 (he'd be 77 or 81 respectively). Or even if that doesn't happen, it's a legacy move and he represents the only somewhat anti-Trump conservative state, so it's not exactly cause for concern for him for a reelection bid anyway. Either way, I'd vote for him again. He was basically the wealthy suburban Republican dream candidate, and now that portion of the party is basically stuck hoping that the GOP gets less crazy or the Dems don't put up a candidate that wants to tax us too much. Shame, too. I honestly think we'd be much better off if he had won in 2012. And an established Romney probably would've beaten Clinton in 2016, too.
