If so, what happened when you were fired? We walked out of the building? Did someone pack your belongings for you? Why were you fired?

I've been fired twice. First time someone made an accusation against me, I defended myself saying it didn't happen. it was my word against theirs, and unfortunately I was fired. someone from HR packed up my stuff and I was walking out of the building.

Second time I was fired because I said "I hate this job" in front of my supervisor. This was a very unprofessional termination, because my boss terminated me in front of everyone on the floor, saying you "blew one hell of an opportunity, give me your badge, I'm walking you out. That time I packed my own stuff".

A few times. Well, more than a few. I worked at Wendy's in high school and college and got fired for punching a register and breaking the screen. Only it wasn't in anger, I used to punch the bottom of the screen to make it bounce up and down when it would lag, only that time the screen shattered and a bunch of liquid (Liquid Crystal Display) leaked out. Then I got fired from Verizon because I woke up and realized that I would feel much happier if I stopped going, so I did. Then I got fired from McDonald's because I told the owner of the franchise who screwed me out of thousands by refusing to pay me as GM despite me being a GM to go fuck herself and die horribly. Then I got fired from a convenience store restaurant because I was dating a co-manager and we broke up and she told HR a bunch of shit about me. Plus there was some creepy rapey guy who told a high school girl he'd rape her "as a joke" and I got retaliated against for reporting him because he knew the district manager (fuck that company). Then I got fired from a factory for not going because it sucked so fuck'em

That's it, though. >__>

Where I work you get coded upon no longer being in the position. Some codings mark you as "unhirable".

For some reason job abandonment is not one of those codings.

Once for sure, maybe a second.

The first was a terrible foundry like job, 10 hr shifts with only a 20 minute lunch break and only making a dollar and half above minimum wage. I just stopped showing up.

The second, I was within the first month of working there. I was still in like a probation period and I wrecked a dirt bike on the weekend and hurt my back. I had a doctor's note saying that I wasn't to work for at least five days. The company policy stated that during the probation period I was only allowed to miss 12 hours of work before termination, so they ended my employment.

Was fired once due to "not meeting performance expectations". Called up twenty minutes before the end of the day, then HR tailed me while I grabbed some of my stuff and walked out of the building.

It felt shitty because they'd called me up two weeks earlier to have me sign paperwork acknowledging I'd made a few mistakes, and assured me that I was important to the company and this was just a routine thing. There had been no additional incidents since then, my boss just came back from vacation and it feels like the first thing he did was boot me out.

yeah.

i used to go into depressive episodes and dissociate for days-weeks at a time where I wouldn't leave my room.

came in after one of those episodes, worked 3 hours of my shift, my boss showed up "i'm going to have to let you go. You can finish this shift and I'll give you a severance package. Go get some help, man, and once you get back on your feet maybe I can look at your position again."

Worked another 2 hours, said fuck it, went home, packed up my shit, had a meltdown, then got my shit enough together to talk to my landlord and then moved out. Lived with my parents for a couple months, then moved cities and got that help

My first job my boss claimed I hadn't shown up to work the previous day. He literally came and talked to me for like 15 minutes during my shift that day and claimed I didn't work any of my 2 hr shift. It was literally cleaning toilets in my college dorm so I wasn't really upset but it was really confusing. I think he was a little unhinged though. One day he would go on and on about how great I was to work with, the next he'd say he wasn't sure I was fit for the job, then the next day it'd be more compliments.

I worked in a factory one summer and made a 60 gallon glue drum barrel implode because I didn't open the pressure release valve before starting the machine that would press down on it to push the glue out.

They didn't fire me but they asked me if I wanted to have my last day be two weeks early.

Technically, I've been "fired" three times, though each time was for different reasons. First time was because a supervisor thought I was racist because I said I didn't like how loud and messy the teenagers that came in to see a movie were and interpreted it as me hating black people. Second time was just a simple layoff because I was only there seasonally and I knew there was a strong possibility of a downsizing. Third time was because the company lied to me about the nature of the hiring process and culled me during training to keep their numbers low. That really pissed me off. But I have a good job now so I guess it was necessary to lead me to the right path.

Twice after obtaining my CDL. First time was for Schneider. Completing their training program without a hitch. Afterward I had to drive alongside a trainer for a X amount of miles to be green lit.

She was a landwhale who hyperventilated at the smallest mistakes I made. Rushed me on the job becuase she was more worried about her paycheck then training me. Made us park at fancy hotels at the company's expense instead of truck stops for her convenience that were very difficult to maneuver in especially for a new driver. And after not even 3 days sent me back with a terrible report and I was fired.

At the next company I simply had 3 preventable accidents within a year and was.let go on good terms but things are going smoothly at my 3rd company. Which is a flatbed which is hindsight probably wasnt a good idea since I was still inexperienced but it's worked out wonderfully so far.

Laid off yes, fired no. Although the whole thing was ridiculous (no really!).

The company I was working for struck a deal with Deloitte outsource a portion of the IT department. Everyone in the department was "laid off" with the option of interviewing with Deloitte for our jobs back. So after that stressful event, I got my job back working for Deloitte, and worked in the exact same desk doing the work I had previously been doing.

Not surprisingly after that BS occurred 50% of the people that joined Deloitte left to work at the nearby hospital, or became consultants.

One time. Boss said I was "walking away from him" while he was talking to me. I went to lunch, came back and they were like "can we talk to you" and my boss was like "Yeah so I wasn't done talking with you earlier, and you just totally disregarded me and walked off"

I was like "Oh, I had no idea...Sorry, I thought we were done. You didn't say anything when I walked off, I apologize."

I came in the next day (Friday morning) and my computer access was off, and my boss said "come with me" and "Today is your last day here with XXXXX" and they escorted me outside.

I collected unemployment for 5 months from them, so its all good.

Yes, was partially my fault. I fell asleep at work and the contractor for our security firm made a complaint. Now, I say partially my fault because

A) He wasn't supposed to be there that day, it was early February during a heavy blizzard
and
B) I found out I was actually being over-medicated by my doctor and the sleep episodes I had been having were all because of that

But I think I was more or less the last straw, as apparently the other guards just weren't showing up for work. I at least showed up and would be awake for most of my shifts. Even when I slept it was only for like 20 minutes or so. Actually my boss laid me off instead of firing me.

I've been the victim of office politics before.

At one point I was let go because the manager thought I was about to replace him...and he was right. So initially he told me that my position had been eliminated, and that was the reason I was being let go...even tho he had just given me a 10k raise a month earlier. I later found out that he ended up giving all my duties to my intern, whom he hired full-time at my salary. My intern could not do my job at all, and the project tanked. The CEO fired my manager, and reached out to bring me back to replace him...but I was already working somewhere else for more money.

At my most recent job I was let go after not being paid for two months. My company was financially not doing well, and I had been taking half pay for about 10 months, and then two more months of no pay at all. I ended up calling a meeting within the office and diagraming several different ways in which would allow us to have our salaries back...but they all involved being more transparent with the company. A coupe days later I was fired - they said they couldn't afford to pay me, and it was obvious I was unhappy. I told them they can't legally terminate my contract, because its a contract...I'm not an actual employee, and the only reason I'm not an employee is because ya'll didn't want to pay me benefits.

Anyhow, you can't terminate a contract in which you owe money, so technically until you pay me, I'm still employed. Well, they gave me a severance check of 1 month full pay so I'd sign a contract agreeing to it's termination. So, the contract was terminated...but I was still owed money. I sued them for my back wages and a judge awarded me my money. But, unfortunately the company went under, and I haven't been paid yet.

I was gonna say no, but after reading the topic I guess Ive been fired twice . Although I guess both were really abandonments anyway.

One was a seasonal delivery job during summer. It was delivering ice or snacks to local gas stations and convenience stores. I had a trip planned for Florida towards the end of that summer and they were really pissy about me taking the time off. They finally caved and told me just to call in when I returned for my next schedule. I took the trip and just never called them back. It was like two weeks before classes anyway and the job required long hours and I was deceived from the beginning on pay. It wasnt worth it to go back.

Second time was also during college, working at Target. I almost made it a year in that hell hole. Target has the dumbass set up where if you work like five hours youre required to take an unpaid lunch of 30 minutes (and being a part time student most shifts were 5-6 hours). The problem is the clock literally wont let you clock in before 30 minutes have passed, but if you return 31 minutes later you get written up. So basically you get less than 30 minutes because you have to wait by the clock and clock in exactly 30 minutes later and then rush to your position. I thought all of that was bull shit and I ended up with a handful of write ups. I eventually found a different part time job with more money and flexible hours and put in my two weeks notice, but even that was so liberating I just decided to never show up again. Fuck target.

Yup. Only job I ever got fired for was McDonalds.

i was 17. First job. I was working and this hot girl with her tits popping out her shirt pulled up to the drive through. I got hard, so I untucked my shirt to fix myself. I forgot I had my shirt untucked and unluckily the asshole GM saw me working like that on a very busy day, and fired my ass. I was a very productive worker though so the store managers argued with the GM for an hour for me, but to no avail.

I had the cleanest desk as I was the only one who actually cleaned anything in the office. My coworker started talking to me as he was the only one still left aside from me that wasn't fired and I just talked normally to him as I walked out. In my life I've had 8 jobs. Got fired from 3, quit 4, been at the 8th for 20 years. Never got walked out or anything.

1 - regional BBQ place (even though I hate BBQ). Got fired for writing poetry on the clock. STG I'm not making that up. It was really bad poetry, though. ^_^

2 - bag boy at grocery store. Worked there for a year and a half until I was out of high school. Quit to go to a full-time retail position.

3 - store setup/electronics department worker. Cleaned out the location, assembled fixtures/shelving, installed equipment, etc, then worked in electronics when the store opened. Got fired for chronic lateness.

4 - arcade guy. Made change, gave out prizes, etc. Easiest job I ever had, made $200 a week to pretty much sit on my as for 7 of 8 hours. Got fired for no reason that I can think of, owner just asked for my keys and wouldn't tell me why.

5 - cotton mill dockworker. Loaded 50-foot rolls of cotton onto trucks, by hand. First day started at 5 a.m., didn't get home until almost 9 p.m. because the office manager hated the dock manager and purposely held back 3 invoices until she went home that afternoon, and they were all orders which HAD to be shipped out the next morning or they'd cost the company money. Woke up the next day and literally couldn't move enough to get out of bed for like 10 minutes. Decided a mill job was not for me.

6 - detailer at Auto Bell. I lived within walking distance so I would be on call on the weekends. Slept through a call and that was all she wrote.

7 - dairy/frozen manager at a regional grocery store. The most fun I've ever had at a job, everyone who worked there was a little nuts (but in a good way). Had a recovering alcoholic grocery manager, a grocery stocker who didn't consider it drinking unless he had a beer in one hand and a mixed drink in the other, a grocery stocker who was a born-again gangsta rapper, and a produce clerk who, literally every Friday for the 18 months I worked there, would talk about going out to cut wood for his wood stove (to the point that the produce manager once cracked "Didn't there used to be a forest near where you live?") Quit when the store went out of business (about a week before, actually).

8 - stocker/whatever they need at Walmart. As I said, been here 20 years.
