Current Events > I don't understand what I did to piss one of my managers off last night

So I work at panera bread. My shift was 11am to 2pm as a delivery driver, 2pm to 4:30pm as a cashier, took my break at 4:30pm, and then from 5pm to close (which for me ended up being wayy past 11pm) I was a dish washer.

Once I got to 2pm they took my topper off of my car and gave me my tips. So I'm doing dishes and it's around 6pm. Literally no one for the most part did any of the dishes until I started at 5pm. It was fucking loaded and I can't leave until the dishes are one.

One of the managers who wasn't closing but was just there to help make sandwhiches and such asked me VERY casually if I wanted to take a a delivery. At this point I am up to my ass in dishes and I was under the impression we had other people who could do it and I asked "hey is there anyone else who can take this dish is really backed up"

He then proceeded to act like I just shot his dog and said he would take it himself. I tried to stop him and said "hey listen if no one else can do it I'd be happy to do it for you I'm just asking" and he said "WELL I ALREADY ASKED YOU, AND YOU SAID NO." And then he stormed off and took the order. For the rest of the night I was there he was really passive agressive towards me and just seemed like he was pissed to see me.

What the fuck literally just happened? I thought I was done with deliveries for the night and I wasn't really the person to ask. He still got to leave at 9:30pm no matter what since he wasn't the closing manager and I was there until close to midnight doing dishes. A delivery is usually 10 minutes there and 10 minutes back so that would have kept me in the store for another 20 minutes basically since no one else could do dishes. It was crap.

As a manager who works in a similar environment (Mod Pizza) yeah that's super shitty lol. Dish is always the last person to be done

Your manager was being a baby.

He was probably frustrated from something else, poorly communicated what he wanted and then that frustrated him even more. Then he took it out on you.

Idk if it was just a slip up or if he does this regularly. Either way, this is an instance of him being bad at his job. I'd compare it to if while doing dishes, you decided to half ass rinse everything off while leaving food still encrusted on everything.

I bet, too, that if youd taken the delivery he would have screamed at you about the dishes being backed up when you got back.
