no one in the country seems to see this trend, even though it happens dozens of times a year

Yeah, but Texas "winter" goes from hot, cold, storm, sunny, tornado, snow flurries/sleet... like it's rolling a damn die. That's why most of us hate our "winters" because it's nonsense. At least in the summer we know what to expect. I've never experienced this anywhere else.

I've never actually been to Dallas but I signed a lease for an apartment in Lakewood. I'm planning to ride a bike to downtown for work.

Dallas' weather isn't too bad, it still sucks when it rains tho because people drive like there's a great flood.

Does it rain a lot? I'm hoping to drive as little as possible.

Try living in Western Canada.

Last week? Worst snowfall since 1951.

This week? Was bucketing rain yesterday. It's now sunny and 11/52 degrees.

Not too bad,but when we have severe weather they mean it.I would find a cheap banger for bad weather days.I know Lakewood and it's not bad imo.

I am about 1hr east of Dallas in a average sized city but in this valley the tornados go right around.

I'm terrified of being at work and my pups are home during a tornado warning. That was my biggest concern with accepting the job. On a bike I can make it back to the apartment in 15 minutes according to Google.

I understand 100% but it's one of those things like..."what if that trucks tires come off and I get hit?" Hate thinking about a house fire or the giant pine tree falling on my house when I'm away.

I chuck it up to just doing the best you can.
