So, do IQ scores adjust for age? Like, is his expected to rise as he gets older or is the test catered to 3-yr-olds? Because 142 doesnt really seem all that high to me.

Yeah this is the depressing thing for me. Theyre saying hes going to end up giving so much back to society (and hopefully he does) but its also possible intelligence will just be a burden that ends up causing severe mental problems or something like that, tbh. s0nicfan posted... The top 1% falls within 140-160. Since you are rated against others of your age, IQ drops as you age, for a variety of reasons. Other kids catch up, you even out, and you start getting slower after 22 or so. Shablagoo posted... Maybe, but unless he has some other issues, I think that has more to do with upbringing and motivation. I tested 130-140 when I was 6, was in top classes of decent schools throughout school, and surrounded by other smart kids. I consistently tested in the 99th percentile of standardized testing, almost scored a perfect on the SATs, et cetera. My IQ hasn't given me "severe mental problems," nor have I seen that in my peers. What's mostly held me back was my motivation (not IQ), anxiety (IQ related), or over/underconfidence (IQ related). --- "You're sorely underestimating the power of nostalgia goggles." - adjl http://www.smbc-comics.com/comics/20110218.gif ...
