I read What We Talk About When We Talk About Love, and thought it was kinda weak. I now have another collection, Will You Please Be Quiet, Please?, and hopefully it will be better...possibly.

Is this guy still considered one of the great American writers, and more to the point, if so, why?

I'm not really a short story reader but he's my favourite poet. The book All of Us, his collected poems, is probably my most read book.

Explain to me why the hell What We Talk About When We Talk About Live is considered a classic. I thought it was a 4/10. There were maybe 3 good stories, along with a lot of boring stuff. And the stories were pretty short. I seriously want to know: why do some people like it so much?
