Outside of high school, I've only had age gaps that large or larger, in both directions.
I've gone 7 years younger, which is my current and longest relationship (likely my last), and 12 years older.
I look young but act older, so that may be why I have age gaps. If she's cute and friendly, I don't care about age unless it's a legal concern.

they go to the same college.
Okay, if these two people go to the same college and the 23-year-old guy isn't being lazy and taking more than 4 years to finish his degree, I don't see any problem with them dating. I have no desire to go to bars, though.

He could have waited a year to start also. And they met in a class just cause he felt like taking a random early year class for the heck of it

He had to get a few surgeries in high school and his school wasn't great about giving him his schoolwork so it took him two extra years to graduate. He's pretty diligent about his school work now though, so much so that I'm surprised he is even dating someone as he seems to spend most of his free time studying as he overloads his schedule with school to try and "catch up".

There is clearly nothing wrong with that.

maybe let him study more instead of hanging out at the bar.

My parents were eleven years apart, 4 years is nothing. They can do other things besides going to bars.

Feel like I have to chip in with a story on this one..

A married couple who have been close friends with my parents ever since I was born had a peculiar start to their relationship..

He was 39 and she was 17 when they got married! Now this guy was a real gentleman, honest and faithfull, she saw all that he stood for and loved him for it. Her parents saw that their feelings where genuine, real and true.

So they let the government know that they had given the couple their approval to marry before she turned 18 (heard there were lots of hoops and paperwork).

They have two kids, are now grandparents and still married to this day, she's a little over 60 and he a little over 80.

And he has it set, believe me, she doesn't look 60 at all ^_^ she runs for two hours every morning, looks like a Hollywood wife, keeps in shape, and best of all, she still loves him.

So 4 years is nothing!

I mean, I met my wife when I was 15 and she was 17. Knew it from the first time that I saw her that "that's the girl I'm gonna marry". So I used the next 3 years to make her my girlfriend and 3 years after that we where married.

We've been married for 15 years (it will be 16 this year), we've been a couple for 18 years and been best friends for 21 years :D

Man, time flies, heh, I hadn't even started on my education when I met her lol!

You didn't go to school until you were 15?

I should clarify this.

In my country you start going to school at the age of 6, but when you turn 16 is when you start at "job based schools" for up to 3 years more, for example a mechanic, a carpenter, secretary and so on and so on.

Higher education like a doctor, dentist or vet, means you have to go to sort of an "advanced school" for another 3 more years, before you can attend "doctor/dentist/vet school"..

It's a bit more complicated, but that's just an easy way to explain it.

And when I say I hadn't started on my education, what I meant was that I hadn't chosen a profession to pursue yet.

Don't rush my dude.
Take your time.
And remember, a happy marriage seldom comes out of thin air.
It takes dedication, understanding, comunication, forgiveness, patience etc.

If both parties work hard and put the relationship first (and not themselves), then I believe "most" people can achieve a happy marriage ^_^

But yeah, it can be tons of work for many years XP
