Unsure, I certainly hope so. The hype obviously comes from The Witcher 3

Hopefully the delay includes adding 3rd person conversations/cutscenes. Not being able to see your custom character 99.99% of the time killed the interest in buying day one.

Its going to be the best game of this generation, pretty easily imo.

I mean the Witcher 3 was already one of the only games that truly felt next gen, and theyve had another 7 years to make this game

LOL there's no way it'll go like that. That was a special kind of fuck up. CDPR has been consistently good so far, so I highly doubt it'll be that bad even if it's not the best game.

I think it will live up to the hype. My excitement for it did die down a bit, but recently picked back up. I think I just want to really get into another WRPG again after Fallout 4 left me with a bad taste in my mouth regarding the whole genre.

My hype died when it was announced as a FPS.

It slowly built back up a bit as more info was out, but I will be getting it on sale.

I think it will be but I think some people might be a bit overhyped. Even Witcher 3 was downgraded when it launched. They haven't really had to handle this level of expectation before.

Witcher 1, 2 and Thronebreaker

Witcher 1 had no real hype. I didn't play it until the Enhanced Edition.

Witcher 2 was a solid follow up. It did have some issues at launch though. The intro level was oddly difficult. But again it was fixed with an Enhanced Edition and eventually ported to 360.

Witcher 3 was when they really hit mainstream success since it launched on consoles at the same time.

Barely anyone played Thronebreaker and it was a massive flop. Apparently a good game though.

Oh they were also responsible for the terrible Saints Row 2 PC port but barely anyone knows that.

I suppose some people consider them to be the same company a GOG but that's more like they are owned by the same company I believe.

I never even heard of THronebreaker tbqh

It will be fun. I'll enjoy it. I doubt it will live up to the decade wait for whatever it's been.

This has been a consistent thing for me with games with longer development times though.

Witcher 3 was amazing but I don't know. Gameplay has never been their strong point, and having clunky fps style gameplay can be a real killer. People are used to very smooth fps shooter gameplay. If it's Deus ex hr/ mankind divided level I think that will be more than enough but we will see.

Witcher 3 was the first game they made that had decent gameplay for it's time of release, and most people still agree that it was one of the weaker parts of the game. I personally liked the gameplay myself, but while everything else was A+ quality, the gameplay was maybe a B at best.

Yeah that's the biggest risk I think. They've never had to figure out stealth before either.

Actually wait Witcher 2 had some stuff but that was pretty linear.

I think that itll be a fine game, but itll fall into the same trap so many other open world games fall into.

They market all these cool little features and say your actions have consequences and all that, but it just ends up being really minuscule changes that happen once in a great while. Side quests quickly become repetitive in nature and just become a means to get more loot or xp rather than being thrilling. Collectibles that typically provide little to no value. That sort of thing.

Considering The Witcher 3 had meaningful decisions and pretty much every side quest was well written and interesting I'm not sure why you think this

Never played Witcher, Im just basing my experience off most other open world games that Ive experienced in the past decade. If they have been successfully able to avoid a lot of that stuff, good on them.

In Witcher 1, there area some choices you have to make where you'll only see the effects in a later act. By then it's already too late to reload to an earlier save unless you want to lose lots of progress.

In Witcher 3, the outcome of your choices are pretty much contained within the same mission.

I'm hoping to see more of Witcher 1's choice & effect in Cyberpunk 2077.

Maybe what little of the game that's been shown just impressed them enough. Don't need to be a fan of the pen-and-paper game to get that conclusion. In fact, it's making more people want to get into the original game.
