People dont want to have a bunch of platforms competing over what exclusives they have. They want like 99% of the content to be the same so the companies compete over the quality of their service.
Fragmented game stores or fragmented streaming services just make things worse for the consumers because it becomes harder to get the stuff you want and the companies arent competing in ways that benefit the users. --- I want a pet Lavos Spawn. I get your point but also consider the opposite scenario.
A separate launcher for every video game you have. A separate mobile device for every app you use. Every tech company with proprietary port factors so you need a unique charger for every device. A separate train station for every direction you need to go. And so on. It would be different if these launchers were just gateways for games that are freely available on each launcher but they're not. They're treated as exclusive, meaning your experience is just more inconvenient. Competition is not just about what you carry, it's also about the service you provide.
