ive smoked about 20 cigarettes a day for a good 5 years and am quitting cold turkey. without gum or patched. its maybe a new year new me thing, but recently a friend of me quit, one i never thought would and its pretty inspiring. taxes on smokes are also getting higher as of this year and it also is now banned at and around school areas. i waited till the holidays break of two weeks was over and now the time has come. using an app that keeps me informed how much i saved and how many cigs i havent smoked should motivate me. i wonder how bad the nicotine withdrawal is gonna be though

share ur experience if u ever quit or wish me luck or both or none

I quit like 3 or 4 years ago. Counting the money is a good inspiration but go ahead and spend that money too, on a new game or something to distract you from the savings. The best thing you can to is be too broke/lazy to go buy some. And if you can legitimately distract yourself, cravings won't last more than single digit minutes.

Oh and the poster above said two weeks, but especially the first three days. Its practivally over after that. But also keep in mind any slip ups will reset that completely, cold turkey is the best way. Hardest maybe, but quickest, otherwise you're just prolonging your cravings.

My grandmother who smoked a pack a day for about 40 years was able to quit cold turkey at the age of 55. If she can do it after that, anyone can. Believe in yourself.

going through insomnia myself since october. slowly getting better. but it was scary as shit. there was a couple nights in a row where i didn't get any sleep at all. laid there for 7 hours and then next thing i know the alarm was going off and it was time to get up. weird part is i felt no different. you'd think someone with no sleep would feel groggy but i was still alert, performing at work, driving, etc with no issues. no idea what caused it.

I'm glad for you tc, but be careful. If you notice anything weird with your skin, consider getting nicotine gum after all.

I knew a guy who quit cold turkey, and his skin just fuckin, cracked wide open. His hands and face, real deep in there, like he was a statue during an earthquake. Not trying to scare you or anything, just pay attention to any weird symptoms.

I quit for 3 years, after smoking 20. Been smoking last 3 months again due to work stress. I plan to quit again after I'm done traveling.

I quit cold turkey.

Few things to keep in mind.

Quitting is all about will power.

After the first week, you'll start smelling things you never did before. You will think you're own body smells even if you take 4 showers in a day. (Literally had to have my wife smell me cause I thought I stunk, but she said I didnt)

Cigarette smoke is disgusting, (you will now pity yourself and feel bad for letting other people who dont smoke smell it)

You're poop cycle will be all kinds of fucked up.

Sleep? Lol

After a month it does get better.

oof, that prolly was a big scare for him. it now happens that my skin has been fucked up since fall for the first time in my life. i wonder how worse it can get. isnt it supposed to get better though? my app says so

That "nicotine in your blood" statistic on that app is very important. Once that is 100% you're not physically addicted anymore, that's why slipping up completely resets your 3~14 days of quitting. After that its just breaking a mental habit.
