Wouldn't that make this trilogy pretty low stakes? I'm sure there's still conflict but the series is called Star Wars.

I mean it'd probably be smaller scale and more low stakes yeah

Dunno if it's the movies as well but Project Luminous is gonna be partially about a group of Jedi exploring the Unknown Regions

Ah that could be interesting.

I think the concept could be interesting but I'm not sure if they should lock it as a trilogy just yet.

Isaac Asimov, also known as the guy who wrote the stories compiled in I, Robot and Foundation, has a less popular but still great trilogy of novels set in between the two. These are actually my favorite of his works.

The Naked Sun is the second entry, and is a 100% perfect template for a peacetime Star Wars story. It looks like a simple murder mystery, but as the hero advances through the story he realizes that the implications of what he is discovering actually change everything about the universe, and stops the villain's plans to use this for galactic conquest.

Doing something like that could be great for Star Wars because:

1. The stakes are there, but it can still preserve the canon statement that there hasn't been a war.
2. You can take a new look at the Force instead of just doing the whole light dark thing for the millionth time.
3. It escalates in scale, allowing detailed worldbuilding on the low-scale end.

You know what? Forget the Star Wars even. I just want a robots movie trilogy now lol.

IIRC something like this was in an original draft of Episode 7

Kylo Ren, who at this point was just called "Jedi Killer" in production notes was envisioned as a Sith-aligned assassin/serial killer

I hope they actually involve the story group in these movies. Unless I hear they're changing the way things are done, I'm not very interested in new Disney Star Wars movies.

Edit: I agree with that other guy. Don't worry about what the established continuity is, as it's likely the writers won't either.

I didn't know these were a thing but I actually would kinda be interested in reading these. Kylo was by far the best character from the ST.

Kinda sad since ep 7 had quite a number of good characters but hey.

I just looked up a list of what is currently considered canon and holy crap I had no idea. It's evidently as much a full time job just to keep up with Star Wars as it ever was with the old EU.

The story group does a good job keeping everything consistent across the different comic runs at any rate

And there's not much crossover so it's not like "oh shit I didn't read Mace Windu #35 so I don't know what's happening in Darth Vader #7"

The great thing about Star Wars is how it is about both the mythic and the mundane. Galaxy, generation spanning chosen one story and my spaceship engine won't turn over are both equally important aspects. It's rich so they'll always have stuff to work with to let it live on

Tbh that's one of the things I liked in the Tales of the Jedi comics

Everything had this cool ancient aesthetic and there was a bunch of instances of technology being less advanced than in the main series.

Then Bioware chose to abandon that with KotOR and made it look identical to the prequels

And somehow TOR looks even more advanced

Also rumors are the next animated series is coming by the end of the year.

Rumblings are that it's a sequel of sorts to Rebels and is taking place between 6 and 7

They've already said there are new episodes of Clone Wars coming

In a New Hope there had been a Galaxy spanning Republic for over 20,000 years.
