Honestly I don't know if it's been a theory or if it has and been disproved by the writer/directors. I suspected that the end signified some kind of inception thing, because of Neo seeing the robots with his matrix vision at the end. If that's the case Neo starting a real revolution outside the real matrix could be cool. --- Mind post.
