I think the answer depends a lot on how you view States rights vs Union rights. The union was not even a hundred years old yet and not seen in the same way as citizens do today. Using a 2019 perspective to automatically accept the authority of the federal government in the 1800s is too simplistic, and IMO a mistake.

Wow, overwhelmingly "Yes" votes. Now take this to the PS4 board and watch them argue independence and freedom from the oppressive North.

Yes, Confederate flags now are for traitors and racists.

They fought to keep slaves. They lost. Get over it.

The Confederate flag, as we see it, was not the official flag of the Confederacy, which was fighting to ignore other States' rights to abolish slavery.
What rights do people who fly the Confederate flag believe in?

traitorous is mostly about intent. in 2020 conf flag isn't traitorous. post civil rights age the conf flag is more about heritage and southern state pride although i do understand the anathema towards it.

too bad i don't see it more often. the color scheme is great for the conf flag.

What is the heritage behind the flag?
Why would an Ohioan or Canadian have Southern Pride?
