does Robert Deniro have to be the dad in every movie? lol

92% on RT, that's better than most movies these days
it was pretty good. as a fan of Bradley Cooper(just fuck me already) and someone with mental health issues, I enjoyed it a lot

thankfully, my mood swings were never quite as bad as all that. I just deal with plain old depression, not any of that bi-polar stuff. although I have had one or two, I dunno, "violent episodes?". not directed at anyone else, mind you, the sort that is just breaking crap that happens to be at hand
also, 8 months? that's pretty sad. I was in the mental hospital for just over 2 months back in 2010 and was going stir-crazy by the time I got out. still, I did make some friends on the inside (one of whom I just reconnected with and got his number. oh yeah)

I dunno why I'm telling CE this, what do you care? lol

There are better movies about Mental Health like Lars and the Real Girl (2007) & Manic (2001)

I don't know about better movies, I just know that I was a little disappointed it suddenly turned into a straight up romcom. That's not how mental illness works!

It was real and almost raw at times showing his crazy, but then they went with "love conquers all" in the most ridiculous way.

I know some movies have handled it better. But I did it like when I first watched it despite all that. Her winning the Oscar is just straight up ridiculous though.

yeah, that's easily my biggest issue with the movie. the first half is great but once the focus shifted to the dance competition it kinda derails a bit

it even ends with him chasing her down (at least no airports were involved)

Yeah but worse, it was literally in the rain. And they did the whole misunderstanding thing for cheap padded drama thing so he has to chase her down and explain thing. Just a shame.
