In retrospect, no one shouldve been surprised by the Darth Maul hype train coming to an abrupt halt in Phantom Menace after what Lucas did with Boba Fett.

Also, Mandalorians do have kids. I think the idea is that the parent/child is associated by the clan, not as a separate family unit.
