How can you expect to live long when it's tradition to get backstabbed by your apprentice? Why would you want to train another Sith? How do the Sith manage to cultivate a culture when only two can be around?

I imagine its because they value the Sith way more than their own individual life. Like, It sucks if I die, but in the end it will only make the Sith stronger as a whole because theyre being succeeded by someone even more powerful, cunning, whatever

These. And also if there's an army of Sith they ALWAYS eventually lose to the Jedi due to infighting.

There can only be two Sith Lords at a time. There can be a bunch of followers. I guess its arrogance from the master in thinking that the apprentice will never really become stronger than the master and if the apprentice becomes strong enough to strike them down then theyd rather be dead then going from being big d*** to second banana

It's a total survival of the fittest thing. Like bell curving and failing part of the class.

Some retailers even do similar stuff, where they regularly fire the employees who make the least sales and stuff, or make them compete with each other for funding and/or customers. Of course, these are the companies that are eating themselves alive, so to your point, it's not exactly sustainable. But I think that's kind of the point in SW.

TROS also raises some interesting implications about this...
