Like I don't understand.

America literally went overkill and destroyed little islands of Japan and bombed them twice for Pearl Harbor retaliation, which was also to experiment with their new bomb technology.
America went to the Middle East over oil once and for retaliation against terrorists a 2nd time and just destroyed countries.

And yet China over here becoming a superpower against 'democracy' as the US always used as excuse to fight in WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War etc.
Why not go after China?

Just seems kinda weird that the same excuse for Vietnam War could have been used for China War and yet that never really happened unless you count Korea and China vs US during that war or China and Vietnam VS US during that War.

In the Korean War the UN forces led by the US pushed north to where China said they would intervene and then China beat them back to basically where they started. Some at the time wanted to nuke China, but after Korea there was never any realistic chance of winning a war against China. Not long after they had nuclear weapons of their own.

the west was thought the fall of USSR means they won the war, but they forgot that china is still around. and the west stopped trying to prevent the eastern bloc's growth.
that carelessness is now the reason why Russia and China managed to gain so much power.

And to also address the OP: as powerful as our military are we are only capable of really fighting against smaller groups like ISIS because of the way that we are spread out.

I feel like this is the opposite of the actual situation. The US military is a lot better at taking down formal armies and governments and much worse at controlling occupied territory and informal armies.

Because Kissinger thought exploiting the Sino-Soviet split would ensure the USSR's downfall. Which did happen. That move also relaxed tensions in East Asia, which South Korea and Japan slowly enjoyed.

How DARE they provide dirt cheap labour and mass production to enable our wealthy lifestyle!

When we went to war with Iraq in 1990 or 91, Iraq had the 4th largest army in the world and the second best Air defense system in the world.
We toppled them in about 90 days and showed the world that you can't stand toe to toe with the US military which is why we have these guerilla tactics against us right now.

The US has been going through a bunch of costly wars the entire century and really didnt want to lose more people/money if they had to. I mean, yeah China is now a superpower and a potential threat but we are still at peace, and China doesnt want to start a war either if they can help it.
