Final season for the most part is bearable. Alot of unusual plot conveniences, irrelevant side arcs, and characters behaving stupidly but still, not the worst tv season ever.

But yeah that actual ending ranks at one of the all time worsts sadly. Like, Batman v Superman levels of character dumbassery. How fucking dumb that Dexter's prime motivation to start a new life is thrown into the toilet at the very end despite being built up for 3 episodes prior...

So many problems it's painful and bitter that this is the shit the writers thought "okay this ending rocks!". Ugh fuck.

HIMYM is still worse

Ice Cream Truck Killer, Doakes, and Trinity Killer were good antagonists, and had a good dynamic with Dexter.

Season 8 was hilarious. Much glorious memes.

How you managed to get through season 5 and 6 though... good Lord those were infuriating episodes, so bad.

I liked Ray Stevenson in season 7. Season 8 had possibly the worst villain Ive seen in any TV show.

Watching season 8 as it aired was such a dismal experience. Waiting a week between episodes just to watch it get worse and worse.

Still, didnt piss me off as much as GoT.

More like everyone else on top of the seasonal serial killers. Angel is cool enough to always gets some scenes. So does Quinn to some extent. But then it goes wayyy off the rails where Masuka has to have his own arc, and the babysitter has hers, and they're all not relevant to the overall matter at hand especially for a fucking series finale. They aren't even given any closure which means it was all 100% purposed filler.

5 was indeed a hard struggle following Trinity but I beared through it. Kinda funny how they left Lumen hanging as a potential return character but ultimately dropped it because the season was terrible. 6 was solid though because of Edward James Olmos and it was channeling some of the dark religious themes from S4.

The actor of Dexter has said he was pissed off at the ending

I thought Season 5 was alright, but the ending pretty much erasing the entire season pissed me off so much that I never got to the points where it became truly awful.

The show had so much potential, shame it fucked its last season up so badly.

Not really spoilers but I wanted to see Dexter get exposed as a serial killer to the rest of his friends, family, and coworkers. That's what should have happened IMO.

I love how they were so unphased or unsurprised Dexter had the tenacity and skill to murder Saxon with a pen. That should've resulted in a series of questions or consequences right there however that guy deserved to die bloodied anyway so it was a "yyyyyep" moment.

Exactly, and what's worse is that Quinn, I think that was his name, was one of them.
