How early in human evolution/civilisation/history did it occur for a person to see one, crack it open, and eat it.
How long until they realised shit tastes better cooked?

What if the first person told everyone he tried it and it tastes like shit and everyone was like well of course dumbass thats literally chicken shit. So there went a long period of time where noone ate them cause they never thought to cook one. Someone wouldve have to REdiscover the egg on a equally weirdo curious experiment.

Well, I always think of how humans started eating such-and-such, but then I remember that animals have been eating such-and-such before.

But you're talking about cooked.
First, humans learned to use fire to keep warm. Some ate in front of the fire. Someone dropped a piece of raw meat in the fire, and it was too hot to put their hand there to retrieve the meat. Once the fire died, they picked the cooked meat and ate it anyway. That's when they said "Oooooohhh!" and started applying fire to anything.

I mean, if you're starving then you're pretty much gonna eat anything. Dont forget that humans have went through some tough times. Also, as others have said, animals were already eating eggs. Humans probably never thought of them as "poop"
