Another game down on my 2019 catchup. Jeeze already less than 2 weeks left I'm running out of time. Really enjoyed this one part Metroid Prime one part The X-Files. I guess it's also sort of a follow up to Alan Wake? I never got around to playing that one, but maybe a should one day. I had a ton of fun with exploring the FBC and gaining the various abilities to make traversal even easier. I loved picking up notes and reading each little piece of lore that helped build the greater world. There's over 250 of those around the map so there's a lot of notes to read, audio files to listen to and videos to watch.

Combat is great when you're zipping around dodging attacks and using psychic powers to turn every room into a pile of broken concrete and furniture. Combat not as great when you're shooting the gun it's just serviceable in that regard. Luckily it overheats quickly so you're encouraged to switch back and forth between that and your powers. Ending was a bit anticlimatic, but I guess that's what the 2 future DLCs are for....maybe.

Platinum was a simple 100% completion. Gaining enough ability points to unlock everything in the skill tree requires you to complete the main story, complete all side quests and also finding nearly all the hidden rooms around the map. I only had 2 leftover skill points after all that so it cuts it close. Also had to complete 25 Bureau Countermeasures and 5 Bureau alerts which technically aren't necessary, but you can just complete them while focusing on other things and I had no problem reaching their requirements.

Unfortunately a goose stole the rest of this topic so I'm going to go chase it real quick as the quest to the end of 2019 continues.

Yeah it's basically a stealth sequel to Alan Wake, and the Ashtray Maze is a callback to a similar moment in Alan Wake, which uses a different song by the same in universe band. Two members of said band are in Alan Wake, actually.
