got a ps4 for black friday was hoping there would be a lot of ps2 and ps1 games on the store, no dice.
I never had ps3 but i know it had a large selection.
Sony is a bunch of lazy motherfuckers, also the store doesn't have a wishlist on the fucking console.
I'm really fucking bummed out, thought i would finally get a chance to get to play a lot of these ps1,ps2 games that i didn't get around to getting.

It's so fucking irritating that so many older games are difficult to get access to, and it shouldn't be that way.
I'm mad as fuck.

Yeah even the 360's old marketplace has better selection than PS4 PS-Store.

Expect to see pretty much the same huge handful of shovelware crap be put on sale every time a sale goes on (though nowhere near as bad as Switch's e-shop).

Gotta buy a PS3 or PSTV if you want to play PS1 games. PS2 games are trickier. Some are available on PSN, but others can only be played on early PS3 models that had the PS2's GPU built in.

You're not wrong, but you could have taken a couple minutes to research backwards compatibility. IIRC no system on the market right now goes back more than 1 generation.

It most certainly is. The PSP's doesn't work anymore, but you can download games to a PS3 and transfer them over via USB.

Okay fine i can't put previous console discs in the ps4
but i can't buy them digitally either
despite them having a large selection of old games on their ps3
they have a horrid selection of ps2 games and basically only the ps1 FF games
It's inexcusably lazy

They released a ps1 classic, but for some reason they can't be fucked to put ps1 and ps2 games on the playstation store.

The PS4 probably isn't powerful enough to accurately emulate PS2 games (PS3 had native hardware), and the PS Classic made it clear that current Sony sucks ass at emulating the PS1.

I understand your frustration, but it's your own fault for not doing research. It's like buying a 4K blu-ray player and being upset that it can't play VHS tapes.

There's some OG Xbox games available on the Xbone through the BC program.

lmfao blame me and not the lazy ass company, i bought ps4 to play current gen games. And no that's not the fucking same. I'm not asking them to let me play my fucking discs. GTFO The problem is entirely upon them , for their lazy cheapness. They had more of a selection for old games on ps3 but can't be fucked to put in effort to do the same here.

Dude, I'm trying to be nice since I agree with you on some level, but you're making it blatantly obvious that you have no idea what you're talking about. Porting a game requires a lot more effort than emulating it. The PS4 doesn't natively support PS1 or PS2 games. It was a bad decision on Sony's part, but there's nothing that can be done about it now. Bringing old games to the system has to be done on a case-by-case basis, with the code for each one being individually tweaked. And it's up to the original developers to make those tweaks and publish the games on PSN.

Wow. I've been put on ignore for some pretty dumb reasons in the past, but getting ignored and even outright blocked for trying to explain why the PS4 works the way it does it a new one.

PS1: Get a PS3 and download games off of the store

PS2: Buy a used system on Ebay with component cables and go from there

I have plenty of ps1 games
but plenty are expensive as fuck, i had a suikoden 2 copy but i can't find it
and not shelling out 100 bucks to get a second copy
It'd be nice if this shit was streamlined so i wouldn't have to have a million consoles setup.
