I think so. Nanami survived. I used a guide. Otherwise, I'd have never thought to leave the castle at the end. Of course, once I did, it felt appropriate af given the foreshadowing in McDohl's sidequest.

Yep. Not a bad side quest, but I was disappointed he doesn't officially join the army. And it's too much of a pain to constantly go back to Gregminster to pick him up. Why can't Viki teleport us there?

I really liked using a Suikoden 1 party, back in the day. Some combination of McDohl, Flik, Viktor, Luc, Humphfrey, Futch, Kasumo, Valeria, Clive, Pesmerga, Hix, Tengaar, Lorelai, Stallion, Viki, etc. And Riou, of course.

Still one of the best JRPGs of all time, and I only played it and S1 very recently.

The first Suikoden I ever played was 3, couldnt get into it but I was probably too young at the time. Wish theyd port 3 and 5 to PS4/Switch. I heard 4 is best avoided.

1 was ok but to me it was more like a lot of cool ideas that had mediocre execution.

2, though, took those same ideas and absolutely nailed the execution.

I played 1 and 2 recently for the first time. Great games (especially 2 of course). I'm a sucker for base building / character recruitment mechanics in games.

I didn't manage to get the best ending (i.e. the one in the epilogue when Jowy survives).Supposedly you have to recruit all 108 characters before a certain point (I think it's when Leknat appears towards the end).

Yeah it wasn't very clear when the cutoff was. I had heard S2 was bad about missables and such so I used a guide. And I still missed stuff, lol. I didn't get Clive's side mission, and I missed one of the Turtle parts.

I'd say 1, 2, and 5 are great. 3 is different in a not-great way. 4 is also not great.

2 is the best one though.
